The endorsement came during the governor’s weekend working visit to the zone, which featured the foundation laying of the 5,000-shop capacity Nsukka International Market, meetings with traditional rulers at Edem Ani, and a town hall session with stakeholders at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

The leaders, including traditional rulers, politicians, professionals, and community groups, lauded Mbah for addressing key developmental challenges in Nsukka. They noted his ongoing dualisation of the 44km Abakpa Nike–Opi–Nsukka Road, the appointment of Professor Simon Ortuanya — an Nsukka indigene — as Vice Chancellor of UNN for the first time since 1960, and his support for the creation of Adada State.

Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Samuel Asadu, said the governor had delivered on almost all promises made to the zone before the 2023 election.

“Today, the governor is already dualising the Enugu–Opi–Nsukka Road and facilitated the emergence of our son as UNN Vice Chancellor. While the creation of Adada State is beyond his direct control, he has given us his full support. In just two years, he has met almost all our demands. Why would we follow anyone else?” Asadu said.

Nsukka Local Government Chairman, Engr. Jude Asogwa, hailed the governor as “unstoppable” for delivering 20 Smart Green Schools, 20 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, and a modern transport terminal in the zone.

“In fact, it is as though Enugu just started two years ago. We are fully committed to your cause,” Asogwa declared.

At the town hall meeting, Hon. Chidi Obetta, Member representing Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency, praised Mbah’s leadership style and said the gathering was aimed at giving the governor direct feedback from the people.

In his response, Governor Mbah assured the people of intensified road construction in 2025, after the completion of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state. He also unveiled plans for a rail line that would cut travel time between Enugu and Nsukka to just 15 minutes.

“You ain’t seen nothing yet,” Mbah said. “We are still conducting feasibility studies, but this is something we will deliver.”

The event was attended by top political figures from the zone, including Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ezenta Ezeani; Hon. Dennis Agbo, Member representing Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency; state lawmakers from the zone; and the six council chairmen of Enugu North.
