Professor Mahmood Yakubu has officially handed over leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, who will now serve as the Acting National Chairman of the Commission.

Agbamuche-Mbu, the oldest serving National Commissioner in INEC, assumes the position following Yakubu’s handover announcement made on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
In his remarks, Professor Yakubu urged all commissioners and directors of the Commission to extend their full support to Agbamuche-Mbu as she oversees the Commission’s affairs pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
