A minor standoff occurred on Tuesday at the Rivers State Government House when security agents attached to the facility reportedly attempted to prevent the state’s Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, from leaving for the airport.

The officers were said to have staged a protest over unpaid allowances, chanting and singing as they demanded the immediate settlement of their entitlements.
The development briefly disrupted movement within the Government House until senior security officials intervened and restored order.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Government has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
