The leadership of two political support groups, Ndigbo For Atiku and Atiku Unity Forum, has pledged to work with Senator Austin Akobundu, Director-General and Campaign Manager of the ADC/Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, to secure victory for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and ADC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The delegation, led by High Chief Anayo Arinze, Convener/National Coordinator of Ndigbo for Atiku, and Hon. Chief Francis Eburue, Director-General of Atiku Unity Movement, made the commitment on Wednesday evening during a congratulatory and solidarity visit to Senator Akobundu at his Abuja residence.
The groups said their visit was two-fold: to congratulate Akobundu on his appointment as DG and Campaign Manager of the ADC/Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, and to formally declare their readiness to mobilize members nationwide to support, campaign, and vote for Atiku Abubakar and the ADC in 2027.
Describing Akobundu’s appointment as “strategic” and a “morale booster” for Ndigbo and Nigerians at large, the leaders said it reinforces Atiku’s image as a detribalised unifier who looks beyond ethnicity and religion.
“This election goes beyond ethnic or religious sentiment. It is a mission to rescue Nigeria from maladministration, incompetence, and the failures of the current government,” they stated.
They described Atiku as a unifier who sees Nigeria as one indivisible nation, adding that only his victory in 2027 can “salvage the country and return it to the path of economic recovery and enduring prosperity.”
“Your appointment to lead this campaign is proof of Atiku’s confidence in your capacity and his broad-mindedness. He sees Nigerians as Nigerians, not through the lens of ethnicity, religion, or other parochial lines. He has the needed experience and political will to deliver on his promises and return Nigeria to prosperity. That is why we believe he remains the best among all contenders,” the delegation added.
They assured Akobundu of their “irrevocable commitment” to his success, pledging to stand by him throughout the campaign to deliver victory for Atiku and the ADC.
Responding, Senator Akobundu thanked the delegation for the visit, calling it timely and deeply encouraging. He said their pledge would not be taken for granted.
“The 2027 general elections transcend primordial sentiments. This is a patriotic call to rescue Nigeria from its current socioeconomic decline. Atiku remains the most prepared and best-suited candidate to lead that mission,” Akobundu said.
He praised the groups’ nationwide network, noting it would be instrumental in the effort to “reclaim Nigeria from its current comatose state.” He also promised that both groups would be fully integrated into the campaign council’s activities.
“No one will be left behind in our collective mission to make life affordable for Nigerians again” he assured.
Other members of the visiting team included High Chief Okechi Romanus, Chief Emeka C. Nnamani, Amb. Tina Kenechukwu, Rev. Gold Paschal Nwaigwe, Chief Chidinma Onyereri, and Dr. Agu Bryan Diamond.
Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi, Hon. Stephen Mpamugo, Hon.Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu and Chief Jude Chijioke Ndukwe were also there as Senator Austin Akobundu’s support team.
