The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso(OFUJI) , has assured the people of Nkpa that, if elected in 2027, he will prioritise the attraction of quality projects to the area and ensure that such projects are executed to the highest standards by competent contractors and not ‘political’ construction companies l.
Dr. Chima Anyaso made the commitment on Friday at Amaegbuato, Nkpa, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, when he was hosted by stakeholders from Nkpa at the residence of Chief Charles Madubuike (Ebekuo Dike I of Nkpa).
He said his representation would mark a departure from the era of poorly executed and substandard projects, stressing that his responsibility would not end with attracting projects but would extend to ensuring that they are properly executed and capable of standing the test of time.
According to him, he would work in partnership with the Abia State Government led by Governor Alex Otti,OFR , relevant federal agencies and other stakeholders to attract meaningful infrastructure and development projects to Nkpa and other communities within Bende Federal Constituency.
“Ours is not just to attract projects; it is also to ensure that those projects stand the test of time, just like our Governor is doing. I can bet you that I will not allow substandard projects in Nkpa. I have made a name for myself, and I believe this is the time to make an even greater name through service, even globally.”
Dr. Chima Anyaso said his approach to representation would be guided by a comprehensive development contract with Ndi Bende, explaining that projects would be based on the actual needs and priorities of the people rather than political considerations.
“We are doing a comprehensive contract with Ndi Bende to ensure that we don’t bring a road where there is already an existing road or provide farm equipment where there is no need for it.”
He further assured the people that his commitment to them would remain consistent, stressing that his record as a private individual demonstrates his willingness to keep promises made to the people.
“As a private individual, I have kept the promises I made to people, and I assure you that I will not change.”
Dr. Chima Anyaso also used the occasion to appreciate the Director General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organisation, Pastor Okechukwu Dike, for his commitment to the campaign despite recent challenges in his family.
“I want to thank our Director General for the commitment he has shown to this project. Not everyone will make this sacrifice. As he said, he is not going to Abuja with me to work; it is a project he believes in.”
He said he would continue to prioritise the interests and development of Nkpa, noting that his relationship with several sons and daughters of the community had given him a deep appreciation for the people.
“I don’t joke with Nkpa because I recognise Nkpa as very important in what we are doing. Nkpa people are very good people. I have associated with some of your sons, and many of your sons are my friends.”
Earlier, the Director General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organisation, Pastor Okechukwu Dike, commended Dr. Chima Anyaso for what he described as his demonstrated commitment and affection for the people of Nkpa.
He noted that Dr. Chima Anyaso’s repeated engagements with the community demonstrated his willingness to listen directly to the people and understand their needs.
“None of the candidates has visited Nkpa like the Labour Party candidate, Dr. Chima Anyaso.”
Pastor Dike also described Dr. Chima Anyaso’s humility as an important quality for anyone seeking public office, expressing confidence that his character would translate into effective representation.
“Someone who has such humility, if he occupies a position of trust, I know that it will be well with us. The Bible says, ‘Come, let us reason together.’ The truth is that when a man comes, everything falls in his favour.”
He recalled that Dr. Chima Anyaso had recently met with the leadership of the Nkpa Central Development Union (NCDU) and had returned to engage with stakeholders in the community.
Pastor Dike subsequently urged the people of Nkpa to support Dr. Chima Anyaso’s candidacy and work with him towards achieving quality development for the community.
Speaking separately, Chief Austin Ifeanyi Mgbeke (Commander), Chief Alozie Orji, Sir Kelechi Udenze , Chief Chimezie Ikebuire , Mrs Chizurum Uzoigwe expressed their views on the 2027 election and Dr. Chima Anyaso’s candidacy.
One of the stakeholders told Dr. Chima Anyaso that the political preferences of individuals should not create division among the people, assuring him of broad support from Nkpa.
“Every Nkpa person here has their own supporters. Don’t be shaken; all of us are with you.”
Chief Kelechi Udenze acknowledged what he described as the growing acceptance of Dr. Chima Anyaso across Bende, while commending his interest in the welfare of Nkpa people.
“Your humility is second to none,” Chief Udenze said.
Chief Chimezie Ikebuire, while highlighting Dr. Chima Anyaso’s empowerment initiatives carried out as a private individual, challenged the people to consider the potential impact of giving him political authority.
“This man who has been empowering people with his personal money, if we give him political power, how would it be?”
He assured Dr. Chima Anyaso of the support of Nkpa people in the 2027 election.
The stakeholders also expressed continued support for Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, noting that they had no regrets about supporting him in the 2023 election and would support him again.
