The President also extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military following the death of gallant soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who were killed in action while combating insurgents in Borno State.

According to a statement from the Presidency, President Tinubu, who has been fully briefed on both the abduction and the military casualties, expressed deep sorrow over the security breaches. He lamented the kidnapping of schoolgirls from a boarding school in Maga, Kebbi State, despite prior intelligence indicating a possible attack.

The President commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the unfortunate incident and called for stronger cooperation between communities and security agencies. He emphasized that sharing credible information with the military, police, and DSS is crucial to enhancing security across the country.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,” President Tinubu stated.

He also condemned the terrorists responsible for disrupting the education of innocent schoolgirls and directed security agencies to “act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State.”

President Tinubu further urged community leaders and residents — particularly those in high-risk areas — to support security agencies with timely intelligence.

“Our security forces cannot succeed in protecting us if the people don’t cooperate and share information that will help keep our communities safe,” he said.

The statement was issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on November 18, 2025.
