President Bola Tinubu has nominated veteran journalist Louis Odion and Kano-born grassroots politician Ummusalma Isiyaku Rabiu as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President announced that Odion will serve as Executive Commissioner, Operations, while Rabiu will oversee Corporate Services.

 

Their appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate, in line with the provisions of the FCCPC Act, 2018.

 

Odion, from Edo State, is a seasoned journalist and former Senior Technical Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media. He also served as Commissioner for Information in Edo State. He holds two master’s degrees — one in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham, UK, and another in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.

 

Rabiu, 35, is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on education, skills development, and humanitarian aid for underprivileged communities. With a degree in Business Administration, she has been an advocate for inclusive governance and the political participation of women and youth in Kano State.
