The Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, has clarified that the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central Senatorial District remains in effect pending the outcome of ongoing judicial proceedings.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, addressed to the Senator, the Clerk acknowledged receipt of her notification to resume legislative duties, following what she described as the expiration of her six-month suspension imposed by the Senate.

However, the Clerk pointed out that the suspension, which commenced on March 6, 2025, is still a matter before the Court of Appeal. He stressed that the issue remains sub judice and that no administrative action can be taken to facilitate her resumption until the court delivers its judgment and the Senate reviews the matter in line with the ruling.

“You will be duly notified of the Senate’s decision on the matter as soon as it is resolved,” the Clerk stated.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a first-term lawmaker, was suspended earlier this year by the Senate over undisclosed infractions, sparking debate among her supporters and constituents in Kogi Central.
