The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State Chapter, has announced a 7-day warning strike effective from midnight of 30th September, 2025.
In a circular signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Sunday Adeniran, and addressed to all state officers and branch chairmen of the union, NULGE directed all local government employees across Rivers State to withdraw their services immediately until further notice.
The decision followed a resolution of the State Executive Council (SEC) of the union at its meeting held on 29th September, 2025. According to the union, the strike action became necessary due to the “callous and unfair action of the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area” for allegedly denying workers their salaries.
NULGE urged its members to fully comply with the directive, emphasizing that their cooperation and solidarity are crucial in ensuring the success of the strike.
