Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has reportedly begun moves to consolidate his influence within the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, in a manner reminiscent of the political style of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who maintains firm control over both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC in Rivers State.

The development played out during the Enugu East Zonal APC town hall meeting, where the party’s authentic state chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, made a surprise appearance. His presence, however, was overshadowed by a political bombshell when he publicly urged Governor Mbah to defect to the APC and contribute to nation-building.
In a veiled attack, Nwoye dismissed the influence of Hon. Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, describing him as a “sleeping Minister,” and advised Governor Mbah not to “lose sleep over such a character.”
Words on the streets of Enugu have it that the Governor may likely join the All Progressive Congress APC, if the crisis at the PDP continues.
