In the first case, operatives of the Orlu Divisional Headquarters apprehended Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel, 32, of Umuobom in Ideato South LGA, and in charge of Authentic Power City Church, alongside Franklin Chizoba, over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman.

Police said the incident occurred on June 30, 2025, when the suspects allegedly lured the victim to the pastor’s residence under the guise of offering prayers for her. Upon arrival, she was reportedly given a drink that made her dizzy, after which both men allegedly took turns assaulting her.

Following a prompt report to the police, the suspects were arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to the offence and to engaging in homosexual acts. They were charged to court on August 12, 2025, and remanded at the Correctional Facility in Owerri pending trial.

In a separate incident, police on August 12 arrested Ifeanyi Odinka, 39, of Amaifeke Orlu, for allegedly stabbing his father, Denius Odinka, 75, to death during a quarrel over proceeds from a land sale. The suspect reportedly admitted to the crime and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Owerri, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Imo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents, urging members of the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
