Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately release the withheld allocations meant for local governments in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the governor commended the Osun Council of Obas, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and other advocates of justice for their firm stance in demanding the release of the funds.Governor Adeleke noted that recent reports by the NBA, alongside several court judgments, have affirmed that: The All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen were sacked by a court ruling in 2022, not by his administration.

The February 22, 2025, local government elections conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) were valid and lawful.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-elected chairmen and councillors remain the rightful occupants and authorities of the state’s local government councils.

He stressed that there is no legal basis for the continued seizure of local government funds in Osun, describing the action as a violation of the rule of law.

“My administration will continue to uphold due process in defending the rights of all Osun people,” the governor affirmed.
