Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU Abia State, has officially declared the position of Vice-Chancellor vacant, effective March 1, 2026.

In a notice signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Nkeriuka Charity Mbansor, the Governing Council invited applications from suitably qualified candidates, both internal and external, to fill the role of Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

About the University
Established in 1992 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, MOUAU is a specialized university with a vision to be the foremost institution in producing highly rated graduates in agriculture, science, and technology. Its mission is dedicated to equipping students with professional competence and practical skills in agricultural transformation and sustainable food production.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the position must:

Be distinguished scholars of at least the rank of Professor with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.

Possess proven integrity, academic, administrative, and managerial competence.

Be under 65 years of age by the date of assumption of duty.

Demonstrate international recognition through publications in reputable journals.

Possess excellent physical and mental health.

Have a clear vision for advancing the university’s mission.

Tenure and Remuneration
The Vice-Chancellor will serve a single term of five (5) years, with remuneration and conditions of service comparable to those of Vice-Chancellors in Nigerian federal universities.

Interested candidates are required to submit 30 copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae and supporting documents. Applications must include personal details, academic qualifications, work experience, publications, and references from three referees, one of whom must be from the candidate’s current place of employment.
