Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says his decision to accept and abide by the state of emergency declaration was driven by his conviction that no sacrifice is too great to secure peace, stability, and progress for the state.

The governor explained that he chose to cooperate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly during the period, despite mounting pressure to challenge the constitutionality of the declaration.

Fubara added that he resisted attempts to contest the suspension of democratic institutions and other actions taken under the state of emergency, stressing that the concessions were made in the interest of safeguarding Rivers State during a difficult period.
