Hon. Dennis Rowland Chinwendu, member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency at the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, has highlighted his legislative and community achievements as he celebrates Christmas 2025 with his constituents.

In a heartfelt address, Hon. Chinwendu recalled that he was elected to represent the people of Isiala Ngwa South on March 18, 2023, and took his oath of office on June 14, 2023. “It has been two and a half years since my inauguration, and I am grateful for the trust and confidence reposed in me by the good people of our constituency,” he said.
Road Infrastructure:
To improve accessibility within the constituency, Hon. Chinwendu embarked on rural road gradings across various villages in December 2023, ensuring that residents could move more freely.
Support for Widows and Less Privileged:
The legislator has continued his initiative to assist widows and the less privileged, distributing over 300 bags of rice, food items, and cash donations last year. This initiative, which began in 2018, aims to alleviate poverty and support vulnerable community members.
Education:
Education remains a top priority. In January 2024, Hon. Chinwendu disbursed bursary awards to tertiary students, registered students for WAEC and JAMB exams, and conducted the 6th edition of his Bursary Scheme, ensuring that no child is left behind.
Agriculture:
Keeping to his manifesto, Hon. Chinwendu distributed over 1,000 bags of fertilizers to farmers in May 2024, supporting local food production and food security. This marks the 6th edition of his free distribution of farm inputs.
Sports and Health:
He inaugurated the Ugwumba Sports Board to oversee sporting activities in the constituency and visited local hospitals, including Ronald’s Hospital Umuikaa and Theresa’s Maternity, where he assisted patients in need.
Legislative Contributions:
During his tenure, Hon. Chinwendu has moved several motions, including calls for inclusion in the African Development Bank loan, improvements in state pension health insurance, standard healthcare facilities, and revitalization of moribund industries. He has also sponsored bills to establish a rehabilitation center for victims of abuse and youth skill acquisition and entrepreneurship centers across Abia State.
Oversight and Community Projects:
As Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, he led an assessment visit to Abia Palm Plantation, Ukwa East LGA. He has also overseen the rehabilitation of Amano Secondary School, reconstruction of Amangwo Civil Hall, installation of solar-powered street lights across eight wards, construction of market stalls, and recruitment of youths into the Nigerian Police and Army.
Empowerment Initiatives:
Hon. Chinwendu continued his education trust fund, supporting over 100 students from Abia State University with ₦50,000 each. Additionally, he donated vehicles to a youth leader and a traditional ruler to enhance mobility and service to the community.
He also launched the “One Ward, One Project” initiative, ensuring that developmental projects reach every ward in the constituency. Recent completions include a three-room classroom block at Umuagu Community School and market stalls at Nkwo Udara Umuapu and Ahia Afo Amaiyi NvosI markets.
Concluding his address, Hon. Chinwendu expressed gratitude to his constituents: “Thank you, Ndi Isiala Ngwa South, for your unwavering support. The promises made remain unchanged, and I will continue to provide effective and quality representation. God Almighty will give us the enabling grace to finish strong.”
