Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned cleric, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, describing him as a man of “uncommon faith, humility, and spiritual depth.”

In a condolence message issued on Monday, Ikpeazu said Abia State, Nigeria, and the world have lost one of Christianity’s greatest gifts. He praised Rev. Ukpai for his profound impact on humanity through his ministry, which he said brought hope, healing, and inspiration to countless people across generations.
Ikpeazu recalled the late evangelist’s strong support during his tenure as Governor, noting that Rev. Ukpai stood by him with prayers, wisdom, and encouragement, always emphasizing compassion, humility, and the fear of God in governance.
“Even beyond public office, Rev. Ukpai remained a source of strength and guidance. His kindness, simplicity, and deep love for humanity were evident in every interaction,” Ikpeazu stated.
He added that the cleric’s life and ministry exemplified selfless service to God and humanity, leaving behind a legacy of faith and spiritual devotion that would continue to inspire many.
The former governor extended his condolences to the Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the Christian community, urging them to take solace in the fact that Rev. Ukpai lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God.
“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Ikpeazu prayed.
