Former Abia State lawmaker, Chijioke Chukwu, has emerged as the consensus candidate for the position of Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

Chukwu’s emergence followed a high-level meeting of APC stakeholders held at the residence of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
A former Minority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chukwu represented Bende North State Constituency during his tenure in the Assembly. He is currently a member representing the SouthEast on the North West Development Commission board.
The endorsement followed extensive consultations among party leaders, culminating in his unanimous adoption as the party’s consensus candidate.

A key highlight of the meeting was the formal presentation of Chukwu to the Deputy Speaker by Chief Donatus Nwankpa a member of the APC NWC and former senator, Nkechi Nwaogu.
The meeting attracted prominent party stakeholders, including the three serving members of the Abia State House of Assembly who have since defected to the APC and member representing Ukwa East & west Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Chris Nkwonta.
