Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the North-West zone have rejected the nomination of former Minister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) as the consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman by Northern PDP stakeholders.

The North-West leaders, who are reportedly backing former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido for the chairmanship seat, faulted the process that led to Turaki’s selection, saying they were not consulted before the decision was made.

The meeting, which had in attendance the PDP National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, North-West PDP state chairmen, governorship candidates, and other regional stakeholders, ended with a firm resolution to push for broader consultation and fairness in the selection process ahead of the party’s November 15 national convention.
