The Anambra State Government has directed all political appointees to immediately hand over their duties, effectively ending their appointments in a sweeping move across the state.

In an official memo dated March 18, 2026, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government instructed all affected officials in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants before the close of work the same day.
The directive, signed by Dr. Nwabuefo Nwankwo, indicates that the action is part of steps toward the formation of a new cabinet.
Meanwhile, all first-term cabinet members have been invited to a meeting with Governor Soludo on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the ANSEC Chambers.
The development points to an imminent cabinet reshuffle as the governor prepares to reconstitute his executive team.
