In a statement on Tuesday, Murray-Bruce explained that his decision was driven by his conviction in the leadership and reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he has known since 1998.
“I know the man’s mind, his courage, and his conviction. He is not driven by applause, he is driven by results. And today, I can boldly say to you that he is on the right track,” he said.
The former lawmaker praised Tinubu’s handling of the economy, security, and infrastructure, describing his policies as painful but necessary reforms to lay the foundation for Nigeria’s prosperity.
According to him, under Tinubu’s administration, insecurity is being systematically tackled, the Central Bank is restoring confidence in the naira, and deregulation of fuel supply has eliminated the recurring fuel scarcity crisis.
Murray-Bruce also commended the President’s infrastructural drive, citing massive road networks, modernized ports, airports, and housing schemes across the country.
He acknowledged the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians but stressed that sacrifices are needed for national rebirth.
“That is why today, I am joining the APC, not for politics, but for progress. Because I believe that Bola Tinubu’s leadership, guided by courage and intellect, will deliver the Nigeria we have all dreamed of,” he declared.
The former senator predicted that if President Tinubu completes his two terms, Nigeria will witness “phenomenal growth.”
