In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the House disclosed that all members of the 10th Assembly received bank alerts of ₦100,000 each without legislative approval. Upon discovering the transfers, lawmakers said they immediately took steps to formally refund the money to the Rivers State Government account.
The Assembly stressed that, as a constitutionally established institution, all public expenditures must follow due process and receive legislative approval. It further accused the governor of repeatedly drawing funds from the state’s consolidated revenue account without approval since assuming office in 2023, despite warnings from the House and existing Supreme Court judgments.
The lawmakers warned government officials against conniving to violate constitutional provisions and assured the people of Rivers State of their commitment to uphold the rule of law and perform their constitutional duties without compromise.
The statement was signed by Hon. Enemi Alabo George, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints.
