In a press statement issued on Friday, November 21, 2025, and signed by INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, the Commission declared that the document did not originate from the office of the Secretary to the Commission or any official INEC communication channel.

INEC revealed that preliminary investigations showed that the signature of its Secretary was forged by what it described as “unscrupulous elements.”

The Commission strongly advised political parties, the media, and the general public to disregard the document, stressing that it is entirely fake.

INEC condemned the act as a serious electoral offence and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, while appealing to individuals involved in such “futile, criminal, and disruptive activities” to desist immediately in the interest of electoral integrity and peace.

Meanwhile, the Commission has commenced collaboration with security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted according to the law.
