A significant political development unfolded yesterday at Osaa Ukwu Village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, as Hon. Chidi Nnamdi officially declared his intention to contest for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The declaration event attracted a large and diverse crowd, including key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party faithful, community leaders, and supporters from across Obingwa, Osisioma, and Ugwunagbo LGAs. The gathering was widely regarded as a strong show of political support and grassroots mobilization.
In his address, Nnamdi pledged to provide responsive, inclusive, and effective representation if given the party’s ticket. He emphasized his commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the constituency, noting that the area has long been underserved. According to him, his agenda will focus on development, empowerment, and improving the welfare of constituents.
The event featured endorsements from prominent APC structures across the three LGAs. Party officials, including LGA chairmen, secretaries, zonal leaders, and women leaders, expressed strong confidence in Nnamdi’s candidacy, citing his experience, leadership capacity, and grassroots appeal as key strengths that could secure electoral victory.
Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, APC LGA chairmen from the constituency reaffirmed their collective support, describing Nnamdi as a candidate with the vision and capability to drive meaningful change.
Among dignitaries present were former Abia State House of Assembly member Hon. Thomas Nkoro; former Obingwa LGA chairmen Elder Godwin Nna and Hon. Hanson Amaechi; and Hon. Chinwe Nwangaga, alongside several other notable figures.
The event concluded with a notable empowerment initiative, as over 20 motorcycles and other items were distributed to beneficiaries, underscoring Nnamdi’s commitment to grassroots development.
