Port Harcourt — Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

The decision was contained in a Government Special Announcement issued on Thursday, February 12, 2026, and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi.

Following the dissolution, Governor Fubara directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over their duties to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective Ministries without delay.

The Governor expressed his deep appreciation to the outgoing members of the Executive Council for their services to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments within the state, though no official reason was given for the dissolution of the council.
