Hon. Dr. Kama Nkemkanma, member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Labour Party.

In a letter dated July 16, 2025, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the Labour Party in Amaze Ward, Ishiagu Community, Ivo LGA, Nkemkanma said his resignation followed extensive consultations with his immediate family, political associates, and well-wishers.

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the Labour Party for providing him the platform to contest and win his seat in the National Assembly.

He acknowledged the trust and support of the party leadership and members, describing their contributions as instrumental to his political journey.

Nkemkanma stated that his decision was driven by the need to advance the greater good of his constituents and to continue his commitment to service, development, and the upliftment of society.

“I sincerely appreciate the support, camaraderie, and shared vision that defined my time in the Labour Party, and I hope that we will continue to work as patriots in the pursuit of a better society,” he said.

With this move, the Ebonyi lawmaker becomes the latest in a growing list of defections rocking the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He is expected to defect to the All Progressive Congress APC in the coming days.
