Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has bowed to pressure from the State House of Assembly by upholding its resolutions suspending three top public officials.In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia confirmed that he has approved the suspensions as conveyed to his office by the Assembly.

According to the directive

:1. The Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, is suspended for one month with effect from today.

2. The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Grace Adagba, is also suspended for one month.

3. The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission, Mr. Michael Uper, is suspended for one month, effective immediately.

Governor Alia emphasized his administration’s commitment to the rule of law, due process, and the principle of separation of powers. He also commended the Assembly for discharging its constitutional responsibilities, assuring Benue people that his government remains anchored on transparency, accountability, and good governance.

He further directed all affected institutions to ensure seamless continuity of service delivery during the suspension period and appealed to citizens to sustain their support for his administration.It would be recalled that the Benue State House of Assembly had earlier declined to screen commissioner nominees forwarded by the Governor, citing his reluctance to implement previous House resolutions.
