Abia-born Comrade Osisiogu Osikenyi Enyinnaya has emerged as the President of the All-African Students’ Union (AASU) at the 14th Elective Congress held in Ghana.

Osisiogu, a native of Avodim-Ubakala in Umuahia South LGA, clinched the top position after defeating contenders from several African countries in a closely contested election presided over by Miss Angel Mbuthia, Chairperson of the 14th AASU Electoral Commission.

While congratulating the newly elected officials, Miss Mbuthia commended all member organizations for sustaining the democratic values on which the Union was founded.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Osisiogu expressed gratitude to students across the continent for the confidence reposed in him and praised the electoral committee for conducting a transparent and seamless process. He also appreciated the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for consistently nominating him for the position.

Osisiogu reaffirmed his commitment to implementing his agenda, which includes addressing the rising number of out-of-school children, tackling insecurity, and fostering unity across Africa for greater development.

Reacting to his victory, Comrade Frank Eme-Orji, NANS Stakeholders Secretary for Zone F, congratulated the new AASU president and expressed confidence in his ability to champion the welfare and interests of African students.

Other elected officials include Comrade Divine Edem Kwadzodeh from Ghana as Secretary General, Comrade Maravilha Kapala from Angola as Deputy President, and Comrade Alistar Pfunye from Zimbabwe as Deputy Secretary General, among others.
