Abuja, — A sharp public exchange has erupted between former senator and activist Shehu Sani and former Transportation Minister and ex-Governor Rotimi Amaechi, after comments each made at separate events this week.
Shehu Sani, speaking two days ago, criticized Amaechi’s record and tone, saying:
“Amaechi was here talking about Tinubu and Nigerians. He’s one of those who has been so blessed by Nigeria. One man was a speaker for 8 years, governor for 8 years, minister for 8 years. How blessed can a man be and then two years out of power, he has seen the fault of the country.”
Amaechi responded today, accusing Sani of insulting him at the National Electoral Reform Summit and vowing to answer back publicly if provoked again. He told editors and reporters:
“I heard Shehu Sani abused me at the National Electoral Reform Summit. I wish I was there, I’d have abused him back. I know what he knows that most of you (Editors) don’t know. He shouldn’t try it again, or else I’ll expose him in public. I’m not joking.”
The confrontation — one involving personal accusations and threats of public exposure — underscores rising tensions among prominent public figures debating President Bola Tinubu’s administration and Nigeria’s political trajectory.
Observers say the exchange could escalate into wider public sparring if either side follows through on threats to “expose” the other. Both figures command significant media attention: Shehu Sani for his commentary and activism, and Amaechi for his long tenure in public office.
We will continue to monitor developments and report further statements from either camp.

2 weeks agoI think Shehu Sani is right. There’s no lie in what he said. Amaechi should go and sit down. Twenty four years as ex this and ex that is enough.
