The Federal Government has announced the resolution of the industrial dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Group, bringing an end to the nationwide strike.

In a statement issued early Wednesday by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, the government disclosed that both parties reached a mutual agreement after extensive deliberations.

Key resolutions include the recognition of unionisation as a fundamental right of workers under Nigerian law, the immediate redeployment of the over 800 sacked workers to other companies within the Dangote Group without loss of pay, and an assurance that no worker will be victimised for their role in the dispute.

The Minister confirmed that PENGASSAN has agreed to commence the process of suspending its strike action, while Dangote Group committed to implementing the redeployment measures in good faith.

The high-level government delegation that facilitated the talks comprised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Dingyadi; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi; and the Director-General of the NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

This resolution is expected to restore stability in the oil and gas sector and ease tensions across the nation.
