The Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha (JP), is set to confer a prestigious chieftaincy title on an illustrious son of the community, Mr. Ifeanyi Kalu Ubaka Okali, as part of activities marking his 35th Coronation Anniversary and 89th Birthday celebration.
The conferment ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, by 10:00 AM Prompt at Ohafia LGA Pavilion, Ebem Ohafia, Abia State
A reception will follow immediately at: No. 21 Chief O. K. Ubaka Street / Chief J. K. Ukoha Street, Ebem Ohafia
Speaking with journalists ahead of the event, the Director of ABN TV & Radio, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali, described the honour as unique and deeply cherished, noting that he had previously declined over 30 chieftaincy titles from different communities over a period of 16 years.
According to him, his decision to accept the title in Ebem Ohafia was influenced by the integrity of the institution, emphasizing that the Paramount Ruler does not commercialize chieftaincy titles.
“This honour is very special to me. I accepted it because it is coming from a place of integrity and true recognition,” he stated.
Mr. Okali, who is also the Executive Director of Fakzy Communications & Fakzy Media Ltd, and the spokesperson of the Ebem Ohafia community, expressed profound gratitude to His Royal Highness, the royal cabinet, and the entire Ebem Ohafia people for finding him worthy of such recognition.
A renowned media practitioner and investigative journalist, Mr. Okali has contributed significantly to community development. His interventions include the installation of solar-powered lights in Ebem Ohafia market, donation of a motorcycle to the community vigilante, provision of a large generator set, facilitation of free education initiatives, sponsorship of JAMB and WAEC registrations, and provision of free water supply, among other humanitarian efforts.
Academically, he attended Government Primary School Afikpo (Ebonyi State) and Emmanuel College Owerri (Imo State) for his early education. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), and further studied Journalism at the National Broadcast Academy (Lagos) and Atlantic International University (USA).
With over 85 awards to his credit, Mr. Okali has distinguished himself as a leading voice in media, community advocacy, and development.
The upcoming ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries from across Abia State and beyond, as Ebem Ohafia celebrates both its revered monarch and one of its distinguished sons.
