The Abia State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and cultists in Umuagu, Abia State, recovering a locally made pistol, live cartridges, and other dangerous weapons.

The suspects, identified as Udaka Justin (36), Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun (24), and Prince David (24), all from Imo State, were apprehended on August 23, 2025, during a stop-and-search operation conducted by operatives of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU).
According to the police, operatives flagged down a blue autorickshaw (Keke Napep) with registration number MBL801VJ carrying five occupants.
The tricycle rider allegedly feigned mechanical issues, enabling two of the passengers to escape.
However, three were arrested on the spot,Upon searching the suspects, police recovered, One short locally made Pistol three live cartridges, One double-edged machete, One battle axe, One black face mask, A sachet of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp, the tricycle used for their operations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, assured residents of the Command’s determination to clamp down on criminal elements in the state.
He called on members of the public to continue providing timely information to security agencies through emergency hotlines.
The suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue.
