The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, has declared that former presidential candidate Peter Obi will not secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 elections.

Arabambi, speaking on national television, stated that the Labour Party could thrive without Obi, stressing that the wave of support the party enjoyed in 2023 was largely propelled by the #EndSARS movement and widespread discontent with the Buhari administration, rather than Obi’s personal influence.

This comes after Obi, during the recent August by-elections, urged his supporters to back candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party he has aligned with but is yet to officially join.
