President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, met with Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, which lasted over two hours, comes ahead of the September 18 expiration of the six-month state of emergency declared in Rivers on March 18, 2025, following a protracted political crisis in the state.
Although details of the discussions were not made public, presidency sources indicated that talks centered on transition arrangements, security briefings, and preparations for a possible handover as the emergency rule winds down.
