The Dangote Group has announced the death of Ruth Otabar, who was seriously injured in a recent road accident involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the management of the group expressed deep sorrow over her passing and extended condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.
According to the statement, the company and its insurance partners had been providing full financial and medical support since the incident. Plans were underway to fly Otabar to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance, before she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the company said.
It was gathered that Ruth Otabar is the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, who has been thrown into mourning over the tragic loss. Supporters and fans of the reality star have flooded social media with condolence messages.
Dangote Group emphasized that safety, accountability, and compassion remain central to its operations, while pledging continued commitment to strengthening safety systems and supporting victims in times of tragedy.
“May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
