…Says his track record in infrastructure, scholarships justifies support

The Ndoki Welfare Association, Ukwa West Branch, has declared its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing him as the most qualified candidate for the position.

The association announced its endorsement during its monthly meeting on November 1, 2026, where its executives and members pledged to mobilise support and votes for Nwogu, citing his longstanding relationship with the Ndoki people and his contributions to the development of communities across Ukwa.

The members particularly highlighted his record in scholarship programmes, road infrastructure, potable water provision and other development projects during his tenure as Chairman of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC).

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Sonny Nwankwo attributed his emergence as a board member of Asa Pinnacle Host Community Development to Nwogu’s support, describing the APC candidate as a leader who creates opportunities for others.

He said Nwogu’s intervention had opened doors for him and contributed significantly to his success in the oil and gas sector.

Nwankwo urged the association to rally behind the APC candidate, insisting that his previous positions and contributions to the people provided sufficient evidence of his capacity to represent the constituency effectively.

He further maintained that several people from Ndoki communities had benefited from opportunities facilitated by Nwogu.

In his remarks, Chief Nwogu thanked the association’s leadership and members for their confidence in his candidacy, assuring them of his continued commitment to the welfare and development of both Asa and Ndoki communities.

He described the relationship between the two communities as inseparable, declaring, “Asa na Ndoki bu otu” (Asa and Ndoki are one).

The APC candidate also recalled his political relationship with the Ndoki people, citing his support for Hon. Emeka Stanley’s aspiration for the House of Representatives in 2015 and his support for Hon. Uzoma Abonta in the National Assembly.

Addressing what he described as misleading narratives surrounding his tenure at ASOPADEC, Nwogu dismissed allegations that he worked against the Ndoki people in appointments to the commission and other strategic positions.

He clarified that Hon. Emeka Stanley succeeded him as ASOPADEC chairman and also served as a commissioner during his administration, insisting that his political record did not support claims that he marginalised the Ndoki people.

Nwogu maintained that his political engagements had consistently accommodated the interests of both Asa and Ndoki, stressing that the two communities must continue to work together for their collective advancement.

Responding, the Chairman of the Ndoki Welfare Association, Ukwa West Branch, Chief Emeka Nna, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to Nwogu’s candidacy, urging Ndoki people to unite behind him ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also called on the people to disregard competing claims over the APC ticket, describing Nwogu as the authentic APC candidate for the Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency.

“You have our support. We will canvass votes for you. Your victory is assured in 2027,” Nna declared.

The endorsement adds to the growing grassroots mobilisation around Nwogu’s 2027 House of Representatives ambition, with the association’s pledge signalling a push to consolidate support across the Asa and Ndoki blocs of the constituency.

The development also underscores the growing emphasis on Nwogu’s previous public service record and cross-community relationships as key issues in the contest for the Ukwa East/West federal seat.
