The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to immediately stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Governor Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary election held on May 18, which was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court held that evidence presented during the proceedings established that former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, secured the majority of votes cast during the primary election and was therefore the rightful winner.

Consequently, Justice Egwuatu ordered the APC to recognise Okorocha as its duly elected candidate and immediately forward his name to INEC for the Imo West Senatorial election.

The judgment effectively invalidates Uzodinma’s claim to the party’s senatorial ticket and recognises Okorocha as the APC candidate for the contest.
