The Asa Liberation Movement (ALM) has dismissed reports claiming that it has adopted Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke of the Labour Party as its consensus candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement signed by its Acting Secretary/Publicity Secretary, Comrade Precious Nwagboso (MrCute), the movement described the report as misleading, stressing that no candidate has been formally endorsed or adopted by its leadership.
According to the statement, the publication circulating in the public domain does not represent the official position of the movement and should not be regarded as an authorised announcement of its political decisions.
The group urged members of the public, political stakeholders, supporters and the people of Asa to disregard the report, maintaining that any decision concerning candidate endorsement must follow established internal procedures.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Asa Liberation Movement has not formally adopted any candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency. Any claim suggesting otherwise is premature, misleading, and inconsistent with the Movement’s official position,” the statement read.
ALM explained that it was founded on the principles of consultation, unity, collective responsibility and the pursuit of the political and developmental interests of the Asa people.
The movement emphasised that decisions of such political significance must receive the necessary approval of its recognised leadership before being communicated to the public.
It further warned individuals and groups against making unauthorised declarations or attributing political endorsements to the organisation without following due process.
The statement also cautioned against the circulation of unverified information capable of creating tension, division and misunderstanding among members and political stakeholders.
ALM reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible consultation process that prioritises the collective interests of the Asa people above individual political ambitions and partisan considerations.
The movement assured the public that any official decision regarding the adoption or endorsement of a candidate for the 2027 general elections would be communicated through its authorised channels.
“Our position is clear: no candidate has been formally adopted by the Asa Liberation Movement at this time. Any official decision regarding candidate adoption or endorsement will be communicated to the public through the appropriate and authorised channels,” the statement added.
The group reiterated its commitment to truth, unity, due process and the collective progress of the Asa people, insisting that these principles would not be compromised.
