Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has reportedly passed away in the early hours of Friday, October 23, 2026, following a brief illness.
The actor’s family reportedly announced his death in a statement shared on his official verified Instagram page, @francis.duru.
According to the statement, the family expressed deep sadness over his passing while appealing for prayers and understanding during the difficult period.
“We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness. We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen,” the statement read.
The reported death comes barely two years after the actor suffered a devastating personal loss following the death of his youngest son, Ifeanyi, in 2024.
Duru, a familiar face in the Nigerian movie industry, is widely recognised for his contributions to Nollywood and his performances in numerous Nigerian films.
