The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Okorie Ani, has appealed to the people of Ebonyi State to return him to the Senate for another term in 2027.
Ani made the appeal while speaking on some of the things he had been unable to accomplish since assuming office, attributing his limitations partly to his financial circumstances and background.
The senator, who described himself as a common teacher before entering the Senate, said he came into the National Assembly from a modest background and had spent his time in office trying to establish himself.
According to him, his inability to achieve some of his goals should not necessarily be interpreted as a lack of commitment, stressing that his financial circumstances may have affected his capacity.
“Some of the things I have not done could be as a result of inability. I went to the Senate as a common teacher. We are not known for affluence. I went there as a poor man, and all these while I have been trying to find my feet.”
Ani expressed optimism that a return to the Senate in 2027 would give him the opportunity to perform better, saying he would have gained more experience and stability by then.
“I am sure if I go back, I must have found my feet,” he said.
He therefore appealed to Ebonyians to give him another mandate in 2027, promising to leverage his experience from his first stint in the Senate to deliver more for his constituents and the state.
