The people of Ndume Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have endorsed the candidature of former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit by Orji to the Traditional Ruler of Mbaocha Ndume Ibeku, HRM Eze Sir Rexford Ohaeri, where he joined the community to celebrate its annual Iri Ji (New Yam) Festival.

The colourful gathering provided an opportunity for the people to celebrate their cultural heritage while also expressing their support for Orji’s political ambition.

Speaking at the event, Orji thanked the traditional ruler, members of the cabinet and the entire Ndume Ibeku community for the warm reception and confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to remain accessible, responsive and committed to the development and wellbeing of the people if elected as the next member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

“I do not take your support and endorsement for granted. I regard them as a call to greater responsibility and a reminder that political leadership must always be about service to the people,” Orji said.

He further promised to work diligently to justify the confidence placed in him, listen to the concerns of constituents and advocate for initiatives capable of promoting sustainable development across the constituency.

In his remarks, the Traditional Ruler of Mbaocha Ndume Ibeku, HRM Eze Sir Rexford Ohaeri, welcomed Orji to the community’s Iri Ji celebration.

Eze Ohaeri said the visit demonstrated Orji’s respect for the people of Ndume Ibeku, their culture and the traditional institution.

“We appreciate the respect you have shown to the traditional institution and the people of Ndume Ibeku. As you pursue your political ambition, I want to assure you that our community has taken note of your legitimate interest in serving our people and we will support you genuinely and wholeheartedly,” the monarch said.

The traditional ruler described the endorsement by the traditional leaders and members of the community as a significant demonstration of goodwill and support for Orji, reflecting the confidence placed in his vision, character and capacity to serve.

Orji was accompanied on the visit by Hon. Nwachukwu Innocent (ONWA), the APC candidate for Umuahia East State Constituency.

The event was marked by cultural displays, traditional festivities and expressions of unity, with the endorsement adding a political dimension to the community’s annual celebration of its cultural heritage.
