INEC declared Hon. Obi Aguocha winner of the February 25 2023 election for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South with 48,199 votes, ahead of PDP’s Chinedum Orji who polled 35,196. The Tribunal later dismissed the petition. That closed the court case. It did not close the performance review.

Aguocha’s camp points to legislative work. Reports say he has sponsored or co-sponsored 25 bills and six motions in just over three years, ranking second among Abia’s House delegation. They also reference a scorecard released via the “Oganihu Ohuhu Project” platform listing bills, motions, and interventions.

WHAT CRITICS KEEP ASKING

Civil voices in the constituency keep asking for specifics. Which constituency projects? Which budget lines? Which roads rehabilitated? Which schools supported? Which youths trained? Claims like “saving 22,000 jobs” were challenged publicly, with a call to publish names, videos, and verifiable evidence.

LAWS WITH TEETH

As Speaker of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji presided over the passage of over 17 bills. These included financial autonomy for the legislature, the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, the Female Right of Inheritance Law, the Diaspora Commission Law, and the Audit Law. Statutes, not speeches.

WATER THAT REACHED COMMUNITIES

The “Ikuku Did All and Will Do More” record lists drilled and reticulated water schemes at World Bank Estate, Finbarrs Road, Amaokwe Ugba, School Road Primary School, Amuzukwu Mbaraukwu, and other points. The goal was simple: potable water for residents and schools.

POWER AND CLASSROOMS

Constituency reports credit Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji with donating 500kva transformers to communities and housing estates, rebuilding classroom blocks, and sinking boreholes in schools like Loriter Primary, St Michael’s, Amuzukwu Girls, and Methodist Girls. He also graded and opened roads, including Road 5 in Low Cost Housing Estate.

SPORTS FOR EVERY CLAN

Nine mini-stadia were cited across Isieke, Ezeleke, Ubakala, Ikwuano, Olokoro, Ohuhu and others. The point was to move youth engagement from Abuja talk to local fields where boys and girls can train every evening.

DIRECT TOUCH, MEASURABLE OUTCOMES

The “Direct Touch Initiative” focused on youth and women empowerment, scholarships, and business support. Traditional rulers in Ohuhu referenced his electrification projects and sustainable empowerment when conferring on him the Akaraka Abia title.

Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji contested in 2023 and lost. In 2024 he resigned from PDP and joined APC, citing party drift. In January 2026 he was named Abia State chairman of The City Boy Movement. Party changed. The projects in communities remained.
