Traditional rulers and custodians of the heritage, culture and values of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom have unanimously endorsed former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The royal endorsement was made at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Samuel I. Onuoha, the Ogurube IV of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom, on Thursday, August 28, 2026.
In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers said their decision was based on what they described as Orji’s record of integrity, service, responsibility, peace, unity, accountability and respect for the people of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom.
They also commended the former Speaker for his commitment to the development of the people and his concern for issues affecting communities across the kingdom.
The monarchs prayed for divine wisdom, courage, humility and strength for Orji to secure victory and emerge as the next representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia in the Federal House of Representatives.
Responding, Orji expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for the honour, recognition and endorsement of his candidacy.
He said the people deserved leadership capable of bringing communities together rather than dividing them, creating opportunities for young people, supporting women and vulnerable citizens, and promoting peace, development and dignity.
“I humbly wish to assure Your Majesties that I understand the weight of the responsibility that comes with this endorsement. I will not regard it as a license for complacency, but as an obligation to work harder and to remain accountable,” Orji said.
He further appreciated the traditional rulers for their support and prayed for continued wisdom and guidance for them as they work towards a better future for their communities.
Among those present at the royal endorsement were Chief Charles Ogbonna (Evuleogu Ibeku), President-General of Ibeku Egwu Asaa; Chief Lawrence Okezie Odoemelam; and other prominent sons of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom.
The endorsement is part of growing political activities ahead of the 2027 election for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
