In what many constituents are calling an unprecedented spree of project delivery in Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Austin Akobundu has commissioned yet another solar-powered water borehole, this time in Oloko, Ikwuano.
The commissioning came hot on the heels of another solar-powered borehole flagged off for construction at Ohuhu Ikeala Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA. Both events held on Saturday, further cementing the Senator’s image as a lawmaker who matches promises with visible action.
While commissioning the borehole in Ikwuano, Senator Akobundu thanked the visibly elated people for their prayers and unwavering support, urging them to keep hope alive as more people-oriented projects have been earmarked for Abia Central. Assuring that the project would be maintained for two years at no cost to the community, he charged the youths to take ownership and protect it from vandals so it serves its purpose maximally, reminding them that development without community stewardship is short-lived.
Senator Akobundu also used the visit to inspect the ongoing remodelling and equipping of Oloko Health Centre, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work done so far. He promised that, once completed, the health centre will be sufficiently equipped to serve as a reliable facility for the people, signaling his intent to tackle both immediate needs like water and light, and long-term priorities like healthcare.
In their response, community members expressed deep gratitude to the Senator for the commissioned borehole and the health centre upgrade, noting that access to clean water had remained one of the community’s most pressing needs. They voiced confidence in Senator Akobundu’s capacity to deliver the health centre, describing it as “an utmost priority” for their wellbeing.
While pledging to protect the facilities from vandals, they vowed continued support for the Senator, who is also the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. Many offered prayers for him to attain his aspirations, framing his projects as proof of purposeful representation.
The twin projects underscore Senator Austin Akobundu’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents and to promoting renewable, clean energy for a friendlier environment.
