Senator Austin Akobundu’s solar-powered streetlight project has continued to elicit excitement across Abia Central.
The jubilation continues to spread as the streetlights dispel darkness, transform communities, markets, institutions of learning, and security formations into citadels of safety, with enhanced ambience and vibrant nightlife.
The latest beneficiary is the Ahaba-Oloko-Umugo-Nchara Road in Ikwuano, in its first phase of execution. The second phase is billed to commence soon.
Residents and other users of the road have hailed Senator Akobundu for the initiative, commending him for his tenacity in driving purposeful leadership. They urged other leaders to emulate his commitment to the welfare of the people, noting that the streetlights have not only illuminated and transformed their area but, more importantly, have enhanced security and safety.
Declaring that “There is no vacancy in Abia Central,” they promised to work with other stakeholders in the senatorial district to ensure Senator Akobundu is returned to office with overwhelming numbers.
On his part, Senator Akobundu, who is also the African Democratic Congress (ADC) flagbearer for Abia Central Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections, thanked residents for their support, saying their commendation serves as further inspiration to do more for the people. He urged them to take ownership of the project and protect it from vandals.
