Senator Austin Akobundu has hailed Rep. Sam Onuigbo as an icon of legislative excellence whose lawmaking track record continues to earn him global recognition.
The Senator made the remark in a congratulatory message to Hon. Onuigbo following his formal inauguration as President of GLOBE Legislators at the UK Parliament.
According to Akobundu, Onuigbo’s achievement brings further international recognition to Nigeria and positions the country at the forefront of the global fight against the climate crisis. He noted that in an arena where merit and competence are the sole criteria, Onuigbo has distinguished himself as an astute administrator and a leading advocate for climate action and sustainable development.
Speaking on behalf of his family and the people of Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Akobundu congratulated the new GLOBE Legislators president and promised his support toward realizing the organization’s global vision.
GLOBE Legislators, formerly GLOBE International, is a non-partisan, cross-party network of parliamentarians from over 80 countries. It works to advance climate action and sustainable development by helping lawmakers translate international commitments into national legislation and oversight.
