In a statement issued by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, the APC said the senatorial primary election for Abia South was duly conducted on May 18, 2026, across all 65 wards of the district in accordance with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
According to the party, results announced by the Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Prof. Erasmus Cishak, showed that Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu (Jnr.) emerged winner with 15,982 votes.
Other contestants scored as follows: Nyerere Chinenye Anyim polled 4,022 votes, Hon. Dr. Blessing Nwagba received 4,556 votes, while Prince Paul Ikonne secured 4,322 votes.
The APC stated that following the conclusion of the exercise, Erondu was officially declared winner and issued the Declaration of Result Form by the primary election committee.
The party maintained that the outcome of the primary election remains valid and binding, adding that the mandate given to Erondu by party members across the district would be upheld by the National Working Committee (NWC) in line with party rules and procedures.
The statement also cautioned Ikonne and his supporters against spreading what it described as misinformation capable of causing confusion and division within the party.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy and party discipline, the APC urged members and stakeholders to support the party’s declared candidate as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The party said it remains united and focused on strengthening its position in Abia South and across the state ahead of the polls.
