Senator Usman, who also serves as Chairman of the party’s screening committee, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the aspirants’ screening process. She explained that the party had already procured nomination forms for Governor Otti and extended a full waiver on both the screening and payment requirements.
“Is it possible for the leader of the House to come for screening, just like it’s done in other parties? In the party that he nurtures?” Senator Usman said. “Well, we had waived off screening for him. We gave him a waiver. We took the forms and gave them to him and told him we didn’t expect him to pay anything for it. We also had a ceremony where we presented the forms to him. Not just his form, but several other forms.”
Governor Otti, who is seeking re-election for a second term, received his nomination forms free of charge from the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Senator Usman.
The LP National Chairman commended Governor Otti for his outstanding representation of the party and for faithfully implementing its core principles of Equal Opportunities and Social Justice in the governance of Abia State.
Senator Usman described the waiver as a recognition of the governor’s exemplary performance in office and an encouragement for him to continue delivering quality governance to the people of Abia State.
