In a resignation letter dated March 24, 2026, and addressed to the Acting Chairman of the party in the local government, Nnaji confirmed his decision to step down both as a member and as the elected LGA Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Isiala Ngwa North.

According to the letter, the decision follows an earlier notification he issued on February 28, 2026, signaling his intention to leave the party. He emphasized that his resignation was made without ill will towards any member, stakeholder, or leader of the party.

Nnaji expressed gratitude to party members for their support and cooperation during his tenure, noting that he deeply appreciated the opportunity to serve as chairman.

“This decision is with no malice towards any member, stakeholder or leader,” he stated, adding that the letter was intended to put an end to speculations surrounding his position.

He further wished the party well as it continues to manage its affairs in the local government area.
