Residents of Ikwuano Local Government Area turned out in large numbers on Wednesday as Senator Austin Akobundu commenced the first phase of his Free Medical Outreach in Abia State.
The exercise, which kicked off at Ndoro Village Hall, Ama Ndoro, is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for constituents across the state.
Medical personnel drawn from the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu were on ground to provide a wide range of medical services to beneficiaries, ensuring professional and quality healthcare delivery.
The flag-off witnessed an impressive turnout, with residents trooping out early to benefit from the free medical services, underscoring the urgent need for accessible healthcare interventions.
The first phase of the outreach will hold across three local government areas as follows:
- Ikwuano LGA
Venue: Ndoro Village Hall, Ama Ndoro

Venue: Isieke Ibeku Civic Centre, Bende Road
Date: Thursday, March 19, 2026 - Osisioma Ngwa LGA

Speaking on the initiative, Senator Akobundu stated that his commitment to his constituents goes beyond economic empowerment, stressing that good health remains fundamental to overall well-being. He reiterated that “health is wealth,” noting that the outreach is designed to support and improve the lives of the people.
The second phase of the outreach is expected to extend to Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, and Umuahia South Local Government Areas in the coming days.
