There are indications of a possible easing of the political crisis in Rivers State following a high-level meeting convened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Tinubu on Monday night met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara; and other political leaders from the state at Aso Rock.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were not officially disclosed, sources familiar with the development said the engagement was part of ongoing efforts to resolve the lingering political tension in the state.
According to a source who spoke to The Nation, Governor Fubara reportedly followed Minister Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the meeting. The source claimed that the governor appealed to the former Rivers State governor and pledged to maintain respect and cooperation going forward.
